I’ve worked for 36 years in social care and health and am a Registered Social Worker. Most recently, I’ve spent 16 years working as a senior safeguarding adults and adult social care leader across integrated health and social care and throughout that time one thing has remained constant: my commitment to people’s safety, rights, and wellbeing.

My career has taken me through a range of senior roles - Principal Social Worker, Associate Director of Professional Practice in Adult Social Care, Head of Safeguarding Adults and covering long term leave as Deputy Director of Adult Social Services. Each role has shaped how I lead, how I support others and how I promote cultures where good practice can thrive.

My strengths lie in understanding and navigating through complex situations and helping organisations make sense of their situation and improve outcomes. I have extensive experience in risk, assurance, governance, and multi-agency partnership working and I’m skilled at bringing people together across organisational boundaries to achieve better outcomes for those who draw on care and support.

I’m a values led leader at heart. Integrity, insight, clarity and purpose guide how I work. I aim to create the conditions where teams feel confident, supported and able to perform well, even when the pressures are high. I’m known for being inclusive, calm under pressure and able to translate legislation and policy into practical, meaningful approaches that genuinely support safe, person-centred practice.

Alongside my leadership roles, I’ve developed and written policy, operational guidance, and quality assurance frameworks for large organisations. I’ve led audit activity, and driven service improvement with a focus on learning, reflection, and continuous development. I am also an experienced chair at both operational and strategic levels and a safeguarding adult review author.

Above all, I believe in building trust with organisations, practitioners and those that draw on care and support. I believe that good practice and safeguarding is built on relationships, curiosity and a shared commitment to doing the right thing and that’s the ethos I bring to every piece of work I do.
